We wrapped up unit 9 of spelling this week! In this unit, our first graders discovered homophones! These are words that sound the same, but have different spellings and meanings. We also studied words with a silent e on the end. In the words cane, made, tape, hide, and slide, the silent e on the end is a bossy e because the e tells the short vowel to be a long vowel sound.
